#1 Don't Let Go: Aired Tuesday, October 5, 1999

Bailey tries to plan a perfect wedding for Charlie and Kirsten. When his plans fall through at the last minute, Bailey tells Charlie to plan his own wedding. Kirsten's parents come to town and are not supportive of Charlie and Kirsten's engagement because of what happened in the past. Claudia breaks up with Cody after she catches him cheating on her. Sarah confronts Bailey about his anger towards her. They become intimate for the first time in months. After an editor offers Julia a book deal she quits college and moves home.

#2 Naked: Aired Tuesday, October 12, 1999

Charlie and Kirsten have the beginnings of a terrible honeymoon, but when they start to experiment sexually they end up having a great time. Cody keeps pursuing Claudia, who turns him away and makes a popular new friend. Bailey and Sarah are having communication problems that they're solving by having lots of sex. Joe tells Bailey about his separation from Frannie. Julia is having trouble writing her book, and forces her editor to help her.

Daphne hires Victor as a nanny for Diana, and gets help job-hunting from Kirsten. Kirsten tells Charlie she wants, somehow, to have children of their own. Charlie counsels a troubled teen at work. Julia investigates her parents relationship, upsetting Bailey, and gets closer to her editor. Sarah thinks she's found her father in New York and goes there to meet him. Claudia figures out that Cameron is attacking his friends anonymously on a web page.

Victor turns the house into a haunted one for Owen and they have a Hallowe'en party. Julia realizes that she has feelings for Evan. Charlie and Kirsten explore having their own baby. Bailey finds out his best friend Will is back in San Francisco and chauffeuring wrestlers.

#5 Shortest Distance: Aired Tuesday, November 2, 1999

Kirsten and Charlie are having difficulty with the regimen associated with trying to get pregnant. Charlie has to work a second job to pay for the in vitro fertilization, so he no longer has time to tutor Myra. He gets Claudia to help Myra with math, and although Claudia and Myra aren't friends, Myra makes Claudia look at her situation with Cameron and Alexa more closely. Claudia realizes she can't date Cameron behind Alexa's back, so she breaks up with him. Bailey goes chasing after Sarah in New York with Griffin and Will in tow, but doesn't get far. Evan and Julia finally sleep together. Daphne lies to Charlie about finding a new job because she doesn't want to be a burden with everything else he's going through.

Bailey goes to a bar and almost drinks, but instead he meets an engaging woman named Tracey who turns out to be married. Griffin sees Daphne working at a strip club. Bailey invites Will to move in. Myra keeps turning to Charlie for help, but when he reports her problems to the principal, Myra's mother claims Charlie's interest in Myra is sexual. Julia wants to make her and Evan's relationship public and for him to meet her family, but Evan is really hesitant. Claudia finds out that Cameron got back together with Alexa, so she plays up to another football player that has a crush on her, but when he gets her alone he won't take no for an answer.

Charlie considers quitting his job, but instead manages to get Myra's mother to drop the charges. Kirsten gets pregnant, but only for a few days. Daphne and Griffin get drunk together on Thanksgiving and end up hooking up. Claudia deals with the aftermath of Derek's attempted assault by not reporting him. Julia helps Evan and his son Brian iron some things out, and gets a kiss for her trouble... from Brian. Bailey is still making a pathetic attempt at acting his own age and continues seeing Tracy. The whole extended family has a huge Thanksgiving dinner.

#8 Fate, Hope and Charity: Aired Tuesday, November 30, 1999

Charlie realizes that he should quit teaching and just work at the factory to make enough money for the medical expenses of having a baby with Kirsten. Claudia gets drunk and bitter at the homecoming dance when Alexa and the popular crowd don't seem to have any problem with Derek. Julia breaks up with Evan when she realizes he's not emotionally available. Bailey is a dating maniac, although he's not really happy about it, but becomes obsessed with a girl named Holly when she rings his doorbell by accident. Daphne and Griffin are in a motorcycle accident, and Griffin needs expensive hand surgery that the Salingers pay for without his knowledge.

#9 The Ties that Bind: Aired Tuesday, December 7, 1999

The Salingers scrimp and save in order to pay Griffin's hospital bills. Griffin is upset that he now feels in debt to the Salingers. Bailey and Holly have a romantic date and sleep together, and Bailey is scared by how strongly they feel for each other so quickly. Charlie and Kirsten get ripped off buying illegal fertility hormones, and his car gets booted. They take it as a sign that perhaps they should delay getting pregnant. Claudia goes back to the violin, but is frustrated when she realizes she can no longer be the best.

The Salingers prepare to celebrate the millennium. Bailey and Holly reexamine their relationship when she takes him to a family wedding and people mistake them for being engaged. Julia tries to find out the fate of her book. Charlie attempts to further his furniture design career. Daphne is involved in a serious relationship and Claudia tries to put high school behind her. All of this doesn't matter very much when it becomes apparent that Thurber is very sick and will have to be put to sleep.

Charlie and Kirsten are having trouble finding time for each other with their crazy careers. Charlie's furniture designs are selling like hot-cakes thanks to Daphne's impressive sales skills. One of Owen's friends tells him Victor is a faggot and will turn Owen into one too. Claudia meets a fellow musician that she used to know when she was younger, and re-learns to trust her instincts about men.

Just as Bailey is losing his sobriety and dealing with troubles at the restaurant, a charming young woman that he meets through AA turns to him for support. Charlie gets control of the furniture factory, and he and Kirsten are struggling to take care of Diana just as Daphne is planning to move to Texas with Luke... and she wants to take Diana with her. Julia spends a lot of fun time with Adam, but discourages him when he wants to take their relationship further.

Kirsten seems like she may be heading for another bout of depression, but it turns out that she's actually suffering from hormone overload due to being pregnant. Bailey realizes that he always comes to the rescue of everyone else, and that he's at his best when others need him. Julia goes to Vegas to stop Justin's wedding to Laura, but Adam follows her down and stops her from stopping the wedding. Todd is dancing around Claudia, scared to touch her after their last disastrous kiss. Finally, Claudia confronts him and they give it another try.

Bailey begins dating Holly again, and Holly's flighty sister Fiona comes to town. Bailey tries to help Fiona be more goal-oriented so that he can figure out for himself what he wants to do with his life. Charlie, overwhelmed at the furniture factory, asks Bailey for help, and although Bailey initially turns down the job offer, he eventually joins forces with his brother. Claudia and Todd find passion through competetition. Julia uses sex with Adam to work through her writer's block.

Charlie's foreman at the company dies from a heart attack and makes Charlie re-think his priorities. Charlie offers Bailey a partnership in the furniture company, but Bailey considers going to business school.

After initial hesitations, Bailey goes to Wharton Business School at UPenn in Philadelphia, Julia accepts a job at NOW in Washington DC (and Justin transfers to Georgetown to be with her), and Claudia goes to New York to Julliard. Daphne is miserable in Texas, so when Bailey decides to leave, Charlie asks Luke to be his partner. The Salingers sell their family home.
